9" × 9" | Encaustic | framed in natural wood
Field Study is an original encaustic abstract landscape inspired by the patterns and geometry of agricultural fields stretching toward distant hills and mountains. Rich blues, deep teals, and warm copper tones create a striking composition, while deeply carved lines divide the landscape into intersecting shapes.
Created with layers of pigmented beeswax, the painting offers two distinct experiences. From a distance, bold shapes and sweeping contours create a sense of movement and depth. Up close, the intricate carved lines and richly textured surface reveal the details of the encaustic process. Small in scale but full of energy, this piece rewards a closer look.
Field Study is a companion piece to Field Notes, another original 9" × 9" encaustic landscape. Each painting stands beautifully on its own, but together they create a compelling conversation about the shapes, colors, and rhythms of the land.
Shipping fees quoted separately during checkout. Complimentary pick-up at Robin Moore Studio in Lake Forest Park, WA or the Fox + Bottle in Edmonds, WA (October and November 2026 only).
